Projects

Please visit the following sections to see information about some of the many projects we've completed over the years.

Education and Healthcare

College of St. Rose

This is another College that we are proud to have  a long-term relationship with.  Recent new construction projects we have completed are the Massry Center for the Arts, the CIMM and the Lally Educational Center.  We have also perfomed maintenance painting during their shutdown every year and have never failed to turn over all buildings as scheduled.

Fischer Hall at Bard College

When we were selected to do the painting on this Frank Gehery designed theater at Bard College we knew it would be a challenging project.  Because of the curved exterior we had to do extensive rigging to paint the exposed steel.  We also had to access the interior of the theater itself while coordinating with other trades while ensuring all rigging exceeded OSHA standards.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

We have performed new construction and maintenance painting for this college  for over 55 years.   Recent projects include the $150 million Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center, the world class Biotech Center and the East Campus Athletic Village.  We have also performed painting work on every building on the campus and are very proud of the relationship we have built with the School over the years.

Government and Commercial

Alfred E. Smith Building

Alfred E. Smith Building

Colonie Center

Colonie Center is one of the Capital District's premier malls. During the last major renovation we rebranded more than a dozen stores and were the painting prime, or subcontractor for the anchor chains of LL Bean and Barnes & Noble. This work required multiple crews on different projects with several shifts utilized for schedule flexibility. As a business we understand that you want your business up and running. Our goal is to complete your project as you want it, when you need it, and move to the next one until you call us back for your next one.

Rensselaer Rail Station

When the Albany Amtrak Station was no longer able to handle the volume a new station was built to replace it.  After we tackled the painting and wallcovering the Architect wanted several very large mirrors installed in the skylights 80’ above floor level.  The GC asked us perform the work due to the difficulty of accessing these areas in the finished space.  Work was performed on time and under budget .

Saratoga Race Course

The old lead-based paint on the exposed steel above the Grandstand in the world famous Saratoga Race Course had started to rust and flake badly.  Originally another contractor was chosen for the project but was removed by the owner when it was apparent that the system they were using was not working.  Although the track was opening in 8 weeks we guaranteed the owner we would complete the project with time to spare.  Two crews worked 10 hour shifts 7 days a week building containment, blasting and repainting the steel.  Special scaffolding was built to roll down the stepped grandstand and moved with a cable system so there was no downtime.  The job was completed as scheduled and the track opened without a hitch.

Green/LEEDS

EMPAC Building

This Grimshaw Architects designed building was built with the most advanced sound and lighting technology available. Some technologies were even designed as the building was built.  Because of this the bulk of our duration for painting was condensed into a 2 month period.  Crews literally worked around the clock to ensure completion for the grand opening.  All work was completed on time and all LEEDS guidelines were followed for a successful green project.

Massry Center for the Arts

This Silver LEEDS project was completed for the College of St. Rose with using green wallcovering and paints.  All documentation was followed to allow them the

Hospitality

We are bondable up to seven million dollars and capable of mobilizing a large crew or several crews on multiple projects with fast track schedules. To assure quality control we perform in-house installation of the textures, popcorns, and vinyl wall coverings that are the bulk of the finishes required in hospitality projects. Please contact us for a list of recent jobs and the opportunity to quote your project.

Sagamore Resort

After completing the new four star Spa during their shutdown the owners then selected us to complete many other projects on this sprawling resort.  We completed the new gormet restaurant Trillium, did extensive room renovations and paint the exterior while the resort was in full operation without ever disrupting operations.

Springhill Suites

The signature bright southwest color scheme on the interior of this hotel was no problem for our crews.  Utilizing texture coatings, vinyl wallcoverings and accent paints thoughout the facility enalbled us to complete a floor a week.

Industrial, Flooring, and Lead Abatement

Fage Dairy Plant

When we were selected to do the finishes on the offices and manufacturing areas of this Greek manufactuer of high-end yogurt we immediately reviewed all substrates we would be working with and what environments they would be exposed to.  Working with the general contractor we used an assortment of acrylics, epoxies and urethanes to ensure that once the surfaces were complete they would be trouble free for years as the manufacturing process produces very high moisture throughout the plant.  We have since been called back to perform work on an addition to the plant with the same solid results.

Saratoga Water Treatment Plant

As one of the fastest growing areas in the northeast the Saratoga area was outgrowing its water supply and the decision was made to build a new $80 million water treatment facility.  As the painting contractor we used several epoxies, urethanes and high-performance coatings to prep, finish and color code pipes, tanks and equipment.  Then identification and directional markings were installed to over 10000 linear feet of piping.

Retail and Rebranding

Text goes here.

Ruby Tuesday

We have done extensive work for this chain not only painting and installing vinyl wallcovering in their new restaurants but also performing rebranding work after their business hours.  All work has always been performed so there is no trace of us when they reopen the next day.

We Were the Painters for: LL Bean in Colonie Center (Albany, NY)

Despite an aggressive schedule this new retail outlet was completed without a hitch.  Not only were new finishes installed but some were also purposely distressed  to get the rustic New England look that is LL Bean’s signature.

We were very proud to work with a company as well known as LL Bean, especially in such a high-visibility area of the Albany shopping scene.  The storefront is now a fixture of the new and improved Colonie Center on Wolf Road in New York State's capital.

Theatres, Museums and Historic Preservation

Bethel Performing Arts Center

The site of the original Woodstock Concert in 1969 was developed with an ampitheater and museum and Frank J. Ryan & Sons was selected to do the painting.  The first challenge came up when the steel in the ampitheter was delivered factory painted but badly damaged.  We built large ramps to allow access for the equipment required to access the steel to repair the damages.  We surpassed the accelerated schedule required to perform the work in time to install the seats and the venue opened on schedule.

NYS Education Building

NYS Education BuildingWe were selected for this restoration after completing several projects in the NYS Capitol across the street.  Not only was there extensive stripping and refinishing of the historic shelves, card catalogs, doors and trim; we also used many faux techniques to restore this jewel in downtown Albany.

Rensselaer County Courthouse

This was a true “old-school” paint job and restoration.  Extensive lead-based paints had to be removed, thousands of square feet of wood trim, doors and wainscot were stripped and refinished, and many faux painting methods were used to restore this old courthouse to its former glory.

West Hall

The RPI Campus is a collection beautiful and historic properties. West Hall over looks the city of Troy and underwent an extensive exterior restoration in 2007. The multiple substrates and detail required the crew to utilize high performance coating and numerous techniques to complete the project.
