Update on the Huston Field House Painting and Renovation Project

The Huston Field House, on the campus of Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY is one of the oldest NCAA Division 1 Hockey arenas in the United States, and it's getting a new look this summer. 

As part of the renovations it was decided that the ceiling was looking a bit too shabby and that a new coat of paint was needed.  There were a couple of problems though, many areas had a very heavy build-up of mildew and paint that was applied over the rink during a prior renovation was peeling badly.  

After we reviewed the areas of need, which we did along with Sherwin Williams, it was decided that the entire ceiling should be treated with a mildewcide, pressure washed, then hand-scraped to remove any remaining loose paint.  After spot-priming any bare areas a 100% Acrylic DTM Finish would be applied.  

RPI picked a light gray color to coat the ceiling and work started in mid-June.   All work is on schedule and will be completed on time so the players can take the ice as soon as they return to school in September.
